New and Revamped - Apple WWDC Keynote 2013
This year’s Apple WWDC Keynote was about all things new and revamped. Be it the new OS versions, the improved user interface for iOS devices, iTunes...
Apple announced a brand new programming language Swift programming language for iOS and Mac OS X development during the WWDC Keynote today. This was undoubtedly one of the most important announcements for Apple WWDC along with the release of iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite.
Swift introduced a lot of new features which have been in demand with developers like us. The best part, it works along with Objective-C and C. So developers can switch between the languages easily.
This was one announcement which got the biggest reaction from iOS developers, and with good reason.
The demo from WWDC Keynote was pretty impressive in terms of speed, simplicity and performance of the langugae.
Till now, many developers were hesitant developing for iOS natively because of the learning curve of Objective-C, especially the syntax. With Swift, we see a lot of excitement among developers to give it a try as well.
Whats more, apps written in Swift will start being accepted to the App Store (for both iOS and Mac OS X) as soon as iOS 8 and Yosemite start rolling out this fall.
We got our first taste of the language and are excited to see what we can do with Swift for iOS! Looking at getting the first app ready soon!
Stay tuned for more updates from WWDC 2014 on our blog.
