How AI is transforming the overall employee experience

The modern workplace is finally here. As employees of the tech-driven business landscape, it is becoming more normal to interact with digital entities that have the capacity to engage humans with a more human like approach. Yet, while computers and mobile devices have been programmed to engage users on the human level, these artificially intelligent systems are also capable of operating with a capacity that extends well beyond what humans are capable of doing on their own. As a consequence, AI is transforming how employees do their jobs in huge ways.

AI systems for data handling

One area where AI systems are making the workload easier for human employees to handle is in the area of data manipulation and management. The simple reality is that the human brain cannot sift, check and compute facts and figures nearly as fast as an AI system is capable of doing. This is especially the case when dealing with performing searches through Big Data repositories to locate and package information critical to employee needs and applications. In addition, AI procedures can format data in specific ways with amazing consistency which would be tedious and a huge time waster for employees to attempt to do themselves. As a consequence, this type of AI support frees employees up to give their much-needed focus to tasks that AI machines are not as well suited for that humans still execute more efficiently.

Improved interfaces

In the past, engaging a digital system required an employee to be excellent at using a keyboard or mouse if they wanted to get any real work done. Today, AI is making it possible for even disabled people to become more efficient at work through voice operated interfaces as well as through other interactive means. By improving interfaces to AI systems to be inclusive of more users, this is making the work environment a place where all employees can obtain a greater user-friendly experience than in decades past.

Company communication

When it comes to keeping everyone up to date on where a company is heading, it used to be required that all employees of a company attend the meetings suited to meet the communication needs of the company. Such meetings could inform employees of policy updates and of any issues that required the immediate attention of employees responsible for achieving a particular outcome. Today, it is not as necessary for a company employee to show up to a meeting in real time. AI systems can make the latest company wide meeting available to any employee around the clock for review. This is great news, because it means that an employee does not have to sacrifice performance to become more informed on which direction company executives want employees to head in and apply their focus. In addition, AI systems can not only improve communications, but they can also allow management and executives to place permissions on data being accessed to better monitor with AI how a given employee is accessing and using company data. This also helps to keep sensitive company data out of the wrong hands by checking to see which employees should have access to what kind of company information in the various in-house streams of communication.

Mobile device connectivity

Whether an employee is sharing data with other colleagues or with clients, this is one area where AI can help to keep things in the right perspective. With access to databases filled with information about company staff and customers, an AI system can keep an employee up to date in real time as to the interests, needs and status of a given client or other employees. What makes this even more useful is that an employee can get the company AI system to root information to any number of smart devices. With this kind of support, employees find it is easier to gain access to much needed information and have that data handed off to which ever mobile device the user wants to set up to receive said information.

The Internet of Things

Every day, products and devices are becoming Internet ready, and this means that companies need AI systems to monitor and make sense of all the incoming data these devices are gathering. Instead of having humans do this laborious task, AI machines perform these operations quickly. In addition, AI systems are also capable of deploying client specific data to paying customers without needing to involve employees to figure out which type of data fits a client’s profile.

Company security

It was inevitable that the day would come when computers would take over the security needs of large companies. Today aspects of a company’s security are controlled by digital AI systems which methodically monitor the activity that goes on inside a company. From recognizing fingerprints and retinal scans to monitoring every move of employees entering a company’s headquarters building, AI driven solutions have taken a major security burden off of the hands of humans. In many ways, the AI approach to security is proving to be far more adept at picking up on security breaches than humans are able to do on their own. This makes it easier for companies to isolate if there is an internal problem where an employee or a client poses a security risk to the company. Using AI in a company security setting also helps your IT department to respond to real threats aimed at compromising your company’s data in a timely fashion so as to shut off access to particularly sensitive company data and systems.

The future impact on employees

While it is true that AI is entering the modern workplace in huge ways, this does not necessarily mean that the role of humans in companies has become less relevant. In some ways, AI systems in the work environment are actually opening up new jobs for employees. Additionally, it will likely be a long time before AI systems are capable of doing many of the tasks humans perform more efficiently and with greater understanding. So, for now, it should be comforting to learn that the AI system that a company has integrated into the work environment to help improve company performance is a critical part to employees being able to achieve more than they could in years past.
